Bridge The Gap

Bridge The Gap

If you’ve read yesterdays post then we’re on the same page. If you haven’t, go do that now so that we are!

Okay, now that we’re all here and in the space of A New Direction I want to elaborate a bit more. Situations like the one we’re talking about today are kind of like training for a fitness goal without having to really do any fitness unless you want to. You build upon these things a little more, day after day after day after day until one day you wake up and you’re like WOAH, how did I get here?! In a good way, of course.

As I opened up my computer to write today, I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to share but it quickly came to me, as I believe things do when you’re committed to showing up for yourself.

Bridging the Gap.

Getting from where I am to where I want to be.

Here’s the thing, by now I know what works for me and what doesn’t.

I know what sets me up for success each day because I’ve done it time and time again for years, until I didn’t.

Getting up early to do yoga, meditate, write, drink water while reading a book, and make breakfast.

In that order.

Every. Single. Day.

If I do that I am set up for success. It’s a solid home run. This is something I know with 100% confidence.

But, and here’s where the speed bump comes in, for almost this entire year - 8 months!!! - I haven’t been committed to that even though I know that it works. I wake up at 6:30 or 7 a.m., have a rushed morning, and promise myself that tomorrow will be different.

And for EIGHT MONTHS tomorrow has hardly been different.

It’s not like I have a reason for this to be happening. I mean, I don’t even have a job right now so there is truly no excuse other than my lack of discipline and commitment to myself.

I am self sabotaging to the greatest extent of self sabotaging.

Which in turn means that I’m probably avoiding something.

And I’m just realizing this as I type so we’re all having this wild revelation at the same time.

Anyways, last night I was done with this funk. I’m not waiting for a Monday, a new month, or a new year to get myself back together. I set an alarm for 5:55 a.m. (which ideally will turn into 5:15 or 5:30) and I knew I was waking up at that time no matter what. Turns out that I didn’t actually fall asleep until around midnight because of my mind racing and googling to see what stores are open 365 days a year… yes, really. And I didn’t even need that alarm because 5:30 came around and I was wide awake. It’s like the Universe knew that I was ready and serious about this and when that time came it was like, “Hey!! The time is now, let’s go!!” and so that’s what I did and it felt darn good.

And that’s how I bridge the gap between here, where I am, and there, where I want to be. I’m setting myself up with something that I know works and that will align me to reach my highest potential each and every day and in turn have a ripple affect throughout other areas of my life.

Is there something that you’re not happy with in your life that kind of throws everything off? If you’re ready to fix it, yes you have to be truly ready, then take the steps to make it happen and share with me if you feel called.

Here’s to day 1 of many early mornings filled with magic.

xx
