NYC Food Post 5/28 - 5/31

Hello friends! It's been a while. Did you miss me?! I've missed you. I was doing NYC things for the past 4 days and had a great time. I love New York and every time I come home I consider moving there. Will it ever happen? I don't know, but I do know that I plan on visiting as frequently as possible and I'm excited to share all of the foods that I've eaten! Are you ready?

I met my friend in the city on Wednesday and we went to Beyond Sushi. We've wanted to try it out but never got the chance to until now. I got the Spicy Mang roll. It was good. It seemed a lot smaller than I expected so that was a little bit of a disappointment. But my new found love for 801010 may have changed my views a bit on "normal" portion sizes. The prices are pretty decent though and the staff was really nice as well.

For dinner we went to Sacred Chow. I think this photo is in every NYC post I have. The Nama Gori Power Bowl. I love it. I love Sacred Chow in general. It's one of my favorite restaurants. I'm not much of a tofu person but Sacred Chow does magical things with their tofu and it keeps me coming back for more every time I'm in the city. I say this every time, but I mean this; go to Sacred Chow! (Especially for brunch if you're able to.)

Thursday started off with a Mother Earth juice from Juice Press. There was a Juice Press right down the street from where I was staying and I went there every morning. (and a few afternoons and evenings too) I always rave about the Good Weed juice but I decided to try something new. Mother Earth was good! Especially for me, the anti veggie girl.

If you've been following me for a while you had to know that this was coming. The One Lucky Duck caesar salad. If I could marry a salad, this would be the one. I can't say enough good things about this salad. I love it and the portion that you get is great! Totally worth the money. I met up with my friend, Humberto, before we went to Strala for yoga class. He teaches there regularly and rocks! If you ever find yourself in NYC get yourself there and take one of his classes. Tell him I say hi too. :)

After yoga I managed to get back to Lula's Sweet Apothecary. I discovered this place last fall and have been thinking of it ever since. It's finally nice enough for me to be able to get myself there. They are still in business, regardless of what Yelp says. Lula's is a vegan ice cream place in the East Village. They have a large variety of flavors, toppings, etc. It's really hard to choose what you want! But no worries, you can sample any of them before making the big decision. I got lavender ice cream, coffee ice cream, coconut flakes, marshmallow, coconut whipped cream, and a cherry on top all for $7! I can't say enough good things about this place. It's really really wonderful. Just check the hours before going! They're only open in the evenings and not open everyday. Definitely worth making time for though!

Another Juice Press breakfast happened and it was wonderful. The CBC Supreme was a tough choice for me because I didn't want to spend $9 on a parfait. Well, totally worth it. Actually it was so worth it that I bought 2 of them. The parfait is so simple, I mean look at the ingredients. I love it! It was the perfect fuel for a warm and sunny morning.

I didn't plan on going to Pure Food and Wine during my trip but it happened. I'm just meant to be there, I believe. I took a Soul Cycle class that morning and was so hungry! I got the taco salad and was really looking forward to it. It was amazing! I was so full and happy after eating it. But I honestly still love the caesar salad best. If I could marry the caesar salad, the taco salad would be my bridesmaid. Yes, I'm planning a wedding with salads right now. Moving on..

I planned a picnic with my friend for Friday and it was really fun! We got a variety of fruits and sat in Union Square while eating them. I mostly ate dates, but I was still pretty happy about that. Just sitting in the grass and eating fruit with good company is something that everyone needs to do every once in a while!

After Strala again on Friday I went out to eat with a few yoga friends. We went to Angelica's Kitchen. It was my first time there and I was pretty happy with it. I got the Dragon Bowl and was overwhelmed. The portion was huge! I couldn't eat it all there but I finished it later that evening. It was really good. It was simple and hearty. Perfect. They only take cash there though, so be aware of that if you check it out! I'm usually not one to carry cash but just happened to have some with me that night. Luck!

I can never leave NYC without bringing home some things. I grabbed the Get Rich Quick Sushi at Juice Press, a Vital Force juice at Juice Press, and a caesar salad at One Lucky Duck. (surprise!) I have had the sushi previously and really like it. It's a perfect portion and is so flavorful. I enjoyed the juice as well but it's probably not something that I'd get again. I'll be going straight for the Good Weed juice next time! And last but certainly not least, the caesar salad will come home with me every single time. I've brought it home almost every time I've been in the city and will continue to do so. It's a perfect way to relax and end a great city trip!

To follow more of my adventure photos you can follow me on Instagram! Stay tuned for more recipes coming your way this week. I know it's been a while since I shared a recipe so I'll make the ones this week extra special! Have you guys ate at any of these places? What's your favorite NYC restaurant?
