Mushroom Tart

Image

I spent quite a while today just taking ideas that I have and putting them onto paper; actually beginning to plan out some awesome recipes for this holiday season.

I'm excited for it and excited to actually take the ideas from the paper and create them (and taste them too of course ;) )

But this mushroom tart just came to me when I was making dinner. Some of the best things are unexpected.

Mushroom Tart

serves 2-4

Crust:
1/2 flour (I used a gf flour blend)
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup ground flax seed
1 teaspoon olive oil
pinch of salt

Toppings:
Mushrooms
Roasted butternut squash
Pomegranate
1 teaspoon oregano
1 garlic clove minced
Nutritional yeast
Olive oil

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine all crust ingredients and spread out to make your base onto a parchment paper lined pan. Bake for 10 minutes. While your crust is baking you can prepare your toppings. Place mushrooms and squash in a dish and lightly coat with olive oil. Remove crust from oven, adding mushrooms, squash, oregano, garlic, and nutritional yeast. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven, adding pomegranate and any other desired toppings. I used everything listed above, but if you don't have squash or pomegranate available then you can use anything your little heart desires :) Get creative!

And of course, serve and enjoy!
