NYC Week 2
My days seem to go by so fast now that training has actually began. I’m learning so much and having so much fun, but it’s really exhausting for me! This past weekend I left early on Saturday morning because I had some things I needed to do on Friday. I think I might do it that way from now on. I liked it better and it saves me money at the same time.
Saturday
I got up on Saturday morning at 4 a.m. and left shortly after. I drove and drove and drove and rode the train to finally get into the city around 11 a.m. Once I got there I wanted to grab something to eat since I had some time before training started. I went to Juice Generation and got an acai bowl. It was so yummy. (Not as good as the one I had in LA, but still good.) Then I went to training which I wasn't sure about when I walked in. I knew that we were learning about the history of yoga and honestly that's not something I'm interested in or know much about at all. But it was fun! Derek Beres was our guest speaker and he's very knowledgeable. He made the discussion fun and exciting for us so I actually learned a lot and enjoyed it! He did a short segment on meditating to various music. It took us through a story of emotions and we got to see how different people felt after each song. It was really neat to see how others can experience the same thing as you, but what they get out of it can be so much different than what you do. It's really great to see!
Sunday
I was up early Sunday as well. So I got ready, ate, read a little, and then went to Strala to take Heidi’s basics class. Fantastic. It was a great way to start off my Sunday. Some of the other girls from training were there too and so I got to talk to them a little bit and get to know them better. Everyone seems so nice! After class I went to grab some food and hung out in a bookstore for a little, then I headed back to Strala. At training we began to lead!! So exciting. We took turns and went around the room leading the class in short little sequences. I felt like I should have been nervous, but strangely enough I wasn't. We each got to go 3 times. We started with leading sun salutations and then Tara switched it up a little and had us do other little flows. Each time it got easier and a lot more fun. We were all laughing and just enjoying the experience. It was tiring too!
That's what we did that almost the whole day on Sunday and Tara and Mike just helped us out by giving us tips and advice on how to improve our leading. They're both so great!
It was really a great weekend and I’m starting to figure out my way around the city a lot better. It doesn’t seem intimidating at all anymore! It still really exhausts me and I don’t think I could ever live there, but I’m so so so grateful for the experience and love that I get to do this. It’s great. Taking this training has changed the way I practice so significantly and it’s only the second week. I can’t wait for the next 6 weeks to see how it goes and where I actually end up once it’s all over.
Hope you guys all had a great weekend as well and thanks for reading! :)
