Grilled Turkey Burger

We've been having some nasty weather lately with a lot of flooding. No fun! I've been stuck inside and haven't been very productive, which I blame on the weather of course. When the sun is out I feel like I can conquer the world, but if it's cloudy I have the hardest time doing much of anything. But tonight when there was a break in the rain I decided to fire up the grill and make a turkey burger for dinner.

Grilled Turkey Burger

Serves 1 but can easily be doubled

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon parsley
ground turkey
olive oil
bread or bun of choice
1 tablespoon hummus
1/2 cup leafy greens

Heat your grill around 450 degrees. You can make this burger as large or as small as you'd like with your ground turkey. Get your turkey and put it into a bowl. Add the cayenne pepper and parsley. Mix until completely distributed into your turkey. Shape the ground turkey to make your burger and cover lightly with olive oil. Grill for about 8 minutes.

While your burger is grilling you can prepare the finishing touches for your burger. I used Sara Lee 100% Whole Wheat sandwich thins for this but you could use any bread that you prefer. Spread 1 tablespoon of traditional hummus onto your bread. Then take your turkey burger and place it on. I added about half a cup of spinach to top it off but you could add any greens or veggies that you'd like!

I served this burger with some fresh pineapple and strawberries to compliment the burger in the best way. You could use any yummy fruits that you have around at the time though! Mango or watermelon would be great as well!

Grill out this weekend and impress your guests with these yummy burgers! I can't think of any better way to end June :)
